SF 48 Hour Film Competition
The SF 48 Hour Film Competition is a high-octane creative challenge where filmmakers of all ages only have from Friday, Nov 3rd 6pm to Sunday, Nov 5th 6pm to write, film, and edit a 5min short film. Every film must use a required line and prop and each film will be assigned a random genre. Whether you're an amateur, pro, or a student, this competition is designed to be an exciting way to push the bounds of your creativity.
The top 16 films are premiered at a live event at the Marines' Memorial Theatre near Union Square. Prizes are awarded to Best Picture, Best College Film, Best Youth Film, and Audience Choice. Whether you're a filmmaker or a film lover, this event is meant to celebrate Bay Area filmmakers and their unrelenting ambition.
