Gross Receipts Tax Update With Greg Kato

The Gross Receipts Tax and Business Registration Fees Ordinance (Proposition E) was approved by San Francisco voters on November 6, 2012. It instituted sweeping changes to business taxes in San Francisco, notably instituting a gross receipts tax, increasing business registration fees, and reducing the payroll expense tax.
Greg Kato is the Gross Receipts Tax Director in the Office of the Treasurer & Tax Collector. Previously Mr. Kato was a municipal financial consultant to California school districts, assisting clients in securing public approval of over a billion dollars in financing to build and modernize schools. Greg is a 2016 recipient of the SPUR Good Government Award for Public Managerial Excellence.
