About Us

Founded in 2006, The Cheese School of San Francisco is the only independent institution of its kind in the nation. As a woman-owned small business dedicated to telling the story of cheese and other heritage foods, the school provides superlative culinary experiences to educate eaters about our shared food traditions and the people that continue to practice them. Our philosophy is “eating is learning,” and we treat our guests to delicious bites from our cafe, to new cheeses from our extensive cheese case, and to classes and events are designed to be fun, informative and most of all, delicious. In 2018, The Cheese School moved to its new home in historic Ghirardelli Square to tell the story of cheese to locals and visitors alike.
