The Once and Future Delta: A Discussion on the Bay Delta Conservation Plan
Facing population growth, climate change, and environmental constraints, California is entering a new phase of its great water debates. The discussion revolves around the state's largest freshwater resource, the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, and plans to combine the construction of new pipes beneath the delta with an ambitious habitat restoration effort, collectively known as the Bay Delta Conservation Plan. Against this backdrop, the Bay Area Council and the Commonwealth Club of California are pleased to present an evening discussion with Natural Resources Secretary John Laird and UC Berkeley Economist David Sunding on the future of the Delta and the Bay Delta Conservation Plan. Following presentations from both Secretary Laird and Professor Sunding, Bay Area Council CEO Jim Wunderman will moderate a Q&A session with help from questions from the audience. Join us for an interesting discussion on one of the largest proposed infrastructure projects in California History.
