Supervisor London Breed grew up in San Francisco and represents District 5, which includes the Fillmore, Western Addition, Haight-Ashbury, Hayes Valley, JapanTown and Alamo Square. Before joining the Board she served on the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency Commission, Fire Commission, and as Executive Director of the African American Art and Culture Complex.
In November of 2012 she was elected Supervisor of District 5 and in January of 2015 she was elected by her peers as President of the Board of Supervisors.
