Sunset Fridays at SF Zoo
New this Summer! SF Zoo & Gardens hosts
Sunset Fridays this Summer
Live music, brews and more!
Sunset Fridays at SF Zoo is a new after-hours event for the whole family at San Francisco Zoo & Gardens running on consecutive Fridays thru August 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Playfield Lawn. Guests will enjoy live music performances by SF Jazz High School All-Stars, Greg Dayton and the Big Cats or Jeffo and the Rhinos over the course of the summer event. Guest can enjoy an outdoor bar, specially prepared food items, kid-friendly activities, ambassador animals and more.
The event name harkens to SF Zoo’s unique proximity to the Pacific Ocean and location in the historic Sunset District, with timing for the summer event close to the sunset hour and in honor of the many animal species that are crepuscular – or active during sundown!
The first-time event takes place in the open Playfield area featuring the Elinor Friend Playground, historic Dentzel Carousel, Playfield Café and Great Lawn, where performances are staged. While the entire Zoo will not be open, select animal areas will be available to visit. In addition, specialty vendor booths will be set up around the playground area.
Zoo Members receive free admission to the event; tickets for non-members are $12 per 12 and over (children 11 and under are free). Tickets can be purchased online or walk-up to the ticket window; reservations are not required.
