Mission District Small Business Merchant Walk
The Mission has a thrilling and unwavering history that perfectly complements its dynamic demographics. What began as a sparsely populated settlement for European immigrants right after the gold rush transformed into a resilient haven for many of the 200,000+ people left homeless after the 1906 earthquake. Eventually evolving into the present vibrant and proud Latin community bursting with families, music, art, and tasty cuisine.
Nestled within its streets are some of San Francisco's most resilient small businesses - lovey shops selling handcrafted artisanal treasures from Latin America, panaderias (bakeries) producing delectable pastries daily, eclectic bookstores hosting a kaleidoscope of insightful events, and restaurants that fill the neighborhood with a symphony of tantalizing aromas. Despite facing daunting challenges such as gentrification, this community stands firm, persevering and continuously finding ways to remain resilient, all while remaining an essential part of the city.
Join us in celebrating the Mission District as we embark on a journey to explore a series of remarkable small businesses that embody the area's indomitable spirit!
