In 2025 the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce partnered with BOMA SF, the Downtown SF Partnership, and the Harvard Graduate School of Design to launch Downtown Turnaround, a forward-looking project where students envisioned proposals for the future of San Francisco’s downtown in 2035. Their ideas were reviewed by a distinguished panel of leaders in design, planning, and real estate.
Panelists include:
- Sarah Dennis Phillips, Planning Director, San Francisco Planning Department
- Claude Imbault, Vice President of Planning and Economic Development, Downtown SF Partnership
- Harry Liner, Master of Urban Planning, Harvard University Graduate School of Design
- Joe McCarthy, Vice President, SKS Partners
- Cathy Simon, FAIA, Cathy Simon Architecture and Urbanism
- Alex Yuen, RA, Design Director, Collective Operations, Lecturer in Urban Design, Harvard University Graduate School of Design
- Moderated by: Mike Grisso, Senior Vice President, Kilroy Realty
We’re excited to bring these experts back together for a panel conversation reflecting on the project, its implications, and how it connects with current efforts to revitalize downtown such as the recent ULI competition focused on Market Street.
This event, in partnership with American Institute of Architects San Francisco, will take place on October 9th from 5:30-8:30 pm and will be an opportunity to bring our communities together, spark conversation, and explore bold visions for the future of San Francisco.
