SUMMARY:Special Public Policy Forum Happy Hour: LOCAL Act with Senator Scott Wiener
DESCRIPTION:Special Public Policy Forum Happy Hour: \n\nLOCAL Act with Senator Scott Wiener\n\n\n\n \n\nJoin us Thursday\, June 29 for a special 4:00 pm Public Policy Forum happy hour as Senator Scott Wiener updates us on his legislation\, the LOCAL Act\, which would allow localities to extend alcohol service to as late as 4:00 am. This bill would allow San Francisco to thoughtfully grow our nighttime economy\, which is $6 billion in size\, employs over 60\,000 people and generates over $80 million in annual tax revenue.\n\n\n\nThe LOCAL Act will establish a process where local government\, law enforcement\, neighborhood residents\, and the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control can create an agreed-upon plan to extend the hours of alcohol sales for bars and restaurants to between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m in specific areas of a city.\n\n\n\nSenator Wiener was elected to represent California's 11th Senate District in November 2016. He currently serves on the Human Services Committee (Chair)\, Transportation and Housing Committee\, Energy\, Utilities and Communications Committee\, Appropriations Committee\, and Public Safety Committee. Prior to being elected to the State Senate\, he served as a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors representing District 8. \n\n\n\nThe Forum happy hour begins at 4:00 pm on June 29 in the Chamber boardroom. Beer and wine will be provided. Snacks will also be provided thanks to our generous sponsors at Safeway. \n\n\nThe Chamber's Public Policy Forums are held monthly to help partners understand and engage in key issues impacting the business community. Forums feature elected representatives\, city department heads\, subject-matter experts and community leaders in a facilitated dialogue on issues of concern.
