SUMMARY:Special Brown Bag Public Policy Forum: Transportation Demand Management
DESCRIPTION:Special Brown Bag Public Policy Forum:\n\n Transportation Demand Management\n\n \n\nJoin us June 15\, 2016 to learn about the City's proposed Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program. \n\n\n\nTransportation Demand Management\, often referred to as TDM\, is the "Shift" component of the Transportation Sustainability Program\, a comprehensive reform of the way the City handles development so that the transportation network keeps pace with growth. TDM incentivizes on-site amenities intended to provide sustainable alternatives to driving - or "shifting" people's usual practice of driving alone in their cars - by providing residents\, business tenants\, and visitors with sustainable alternative travel options\, for example: \n\n\n	Subsidized transit passes\n	Bike share and/or car-share membership\n	Increased bicycle parking\n	Market rate parking fees\n	Wayfinding signage\n	Last-mile shuttle service to get to and from transit hubs\n	Real-time transportation information displays \n\n\nOn April 28\, 2016\, Planning Department staff initiated a Planning Code Amendment for the TDM Ordinance. It is currently scheduled for adoption at the Planning Commission on July 7\, 2016.\n\n \n\nPresenting will be:\n\n \n\n Wade Wietgrefe\, AICP \n\n Senior Planner\, San Francisco Planning\n\n \n\n Michael Schwartz \n\n Senior Transportation Planner\, SFCTA\n\n \n\n\nPublic Policy Forum is the Chamber's monthly Public Policy Forum to help partners understand and engage in key issues impacting the business community. Forums feature elected representatives\, city department heads\, subject-matter experts and community leaders in a facilitated dialogue on issues of concern. Public Policy Forum is sponsored by Safeway and Halo Fine Confections.
