SUMMARY:Public Policy Forum: San Francisco's Sanctuary City Policy with Sheriff Vicki Hennessy
DESCRIPTION:Public Policy Forum: San Francisco's Sanctuary City Policy \n\nwith Sheriff Vicki Hennessy\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nSan Francisco Sheriff Vicki Hennessy joins the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce on March 14 to provide an overview of the city's Sanctuary City ordinance and its impact on the Sheriff's Department. Adopted by San Francisco in 1989\, the Sanctuary City ordinance has guided local law enforcement for over 25 years. Like many ordinances\, Sanctuary City has taken many forms throughout the years\, and as a result\, Sheriff's Department policies have adapted with it.\n\n \n\nSheriff Hennessy was appointed by Mayor Ed Lee in 2012 to serve as interim Sheriff for seven months. In 2015 she ran for Sheriff and won\, earning 61% of the vote. Born and raised in San Francisco\, Vicki joined the Sheriff's Department in 1975\, a member of the first recruit class that included women\, communities of color and LGBT deputies. She was a member of the Sheriff's Department's executive management team for 25 years\, serving in every division of the department.\n\n\n\nLunch is free thanks to our generous sponsors at Safeway. \n\n \n\n\nThe Chamber's Public Policy Forums are held monthly to help partners understand and engage in key issues impacting the business community. Forums feature elected representatives\, city department heads\, subject-matter experts and community leaders in a facilitated dialogue on issues of concern.
