Public Policy Forum: Adult-Use Cannabis with Senator Mike McGuire
Public Policy Forum:
Adult-Use Cannabis with Senator Mike McGuire
Join us Tuesday, October 17 for a Public Policy Forum as Senator Mike McGuire updates us on California's move to legalize adult-use cannabis. In November 2016 California voters passed Proposition 64, which legalized the use, sale, and taxation of cannabis for adults older than 21 years of age starting on January 1, 2018. Senator McGuire’s district, which encompasses the North Coast region from Marin County to Del Norte County, includes the Emerald Triangle which produces 60% of the cannabis in the nation. McGuire was a leader in the effort to regulate Medical Marijuana in 2015 and is working to combine those regulations with the voter-approved Proposition 64.
Senator McGuire was elected to represent California's 2nd Senate District in November 2014. He currently serves on the Government and Finance (Chair), Budget and Fiscal Review, Energy Utilities and Commerce, and Housing and Transportation Committees. Prior to being elected to the State Senate, he served as a member of the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors.
The Forum begins at 12:30 pm on October 17 in the Chamber boardroom. Light lunch will be provided thanks to our generous sponsors at Safeway.
